Hannah Senesh once said, “In my life’s chain of events nothing was accidental. Everything happened according to an inner need.” It was because of our inner need to create, decorate, and share, that we opened “Upon The Shelf” in the summer of 2001. Although our “home” in the village is among the smallest, we have crafts stacked up to the rooftop and down to the floorboards to give our customers a wide choice of decorative items for your home; some made exclusively for “Upon The Shelf” by our in-house designers, Vickie, Jenn, and Kim.
Litwicki Media was hired to build an ecommerce solution for Upon the Shelf to expand their business globally through the internet. Doing so required an immense attention to detail and support for browsers beyond the standard supported majority. Whether a browser is publically supported or not, if your customers use it, you need to support it -- so we did.
Upontheshelf.com features a robust product management portal for the owners to manage their products, categories, coupons, shipping methods, and product groupings. All of this was done parallel to a dynamic content management system to support the constant changing information within the business and its industry.
Most important, upontheshelf.com was designed, developed, and deployed live on a mom 'n pop budget!
Responsibilities
XHTML/HTML, MySQL Database, PHP, CSS, custom layout, misc imagery, browser comaptibility, payment processing implementation, SSL, domain configuration, hosting and maintenance.
