Wal-Mart Realty

Our founder, Jake Litwicki, had the unique opportunity to participate in a proof-of-concept project for Wal-Mart Realty as part of a cross-functional team. Jake acted as senior developer/designer and project manager for the small team of six that eventually had its project adopted internally at Wal-Mart.

The project centered on the redesigning of the realty appraisal process for the realty division and a seamless integration of a then paper-only process into a web based application that would manage, process, and generate new appraisals. This realty appraisal system required modular integration into an existing LDAP server, and other proprietary internal applications at Wal-Mart.

Our application featured a customized, role-based dashboard based on the user accessing the system (appraiser, client, manager), and a complex reporting system that allowed managers to dynamically generate reports on the thousands of archived appraisals. This was done largely in part to a beautifully designed database backend on MS SQL that allowed for maximum efficiency, normalization of appraisals, and fast integration of modular add-ons as we progressed through the development process.

Working directly with the appraisers, managers, and Wal-Mart executives provided an invaluable insight into the project implementation process of a large, established organization that we were not previously familiar with.
