WARGuilds

WARGuilds was a community resource for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Featuring streaming videos from user contributions, dynamic image galleries, and free guild hosting.

WARGuilds featured a completely modular community portal of blogs, imagery, and discussions from players all driven by a MySQL backend driven by beautiful PHP code.

Unlike most video sites that host videos by forcing users to compress and encode videos to *.FLV, WARGuilds featured a completely dynamic video processing backend that allowed users to upload videos of any type and the powerful web servers handled compression, encoding, and managing the video files in a magnificently designed database that drove the website traffic.

A venerable video niche of focused content driven by the users, and entirely free.

Unfortunately WARGuilds' fate was tied to that of its beloved game, and the website was not sustainable as the player base rapidly declined.

Responsibilities

XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Video processing (ffmpeg, mencoder), AJAX (video uploads)
